Approaching boob poke in the smoking area of the outer space club

Drag queen events in Beijing have been getting more popular and frequent, it’s great.

Big up Frozen Lolita! Her costumes are amazing. He was in a documentary by Vice China too, check it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xl3XdoKiGEA&feature=youtu.be
Just found out his english name is actually Neil which is maybe the least mystical name.

MGSG x Shade Seoul @dada bejing

I was feeling like i didnt take any good photos this year and was looking at other peoples photos like damn why am I so shit compared to them (well I have been super busy doing the production side of things this year).  but now I just realised actually I did take some photos that I REALLY LIKE.

This is Frozen Lolita, a drag queen in Beijing who always has the baddddest costumes. I guess you call it drag though its not like you’ve ever seen women wearing the clothes she makes. Maybe Queens from outer space. I saw a photo of her with the front casing of a moped strapped to her like a kind of corset thing,  I dont know how to describe it but somehow it worked, was pretty amazing.

So this is a post I wrote in 2015 which I never posted for some reason. We were doing a project on immigration in the run up to the general election. And now it’s 2018 and we are Conservativised and Brexiting and Trumped… sigh….

Looking through the website again, some of the things people say are really moving . Makes me sad that UK politics are so anti-immigrant.  Please have a look at the stories: http://www.faceit2015.com/

ALL PHOTOS BY BEN MCMILLAN

Recently I’ve been working on a project called FACE IT 2015 with photographer Ben McMillan

the participants are photographed and put up on the website (www.faceit2015.com) with their thoughts on immigration in the UK/ identity or just how they came to be in the uk and what they are up to.  go and read some!

We’ve been running around on buses trains/underground and the occasional uber with a black backdrop and one light, setting up shoots in the street, backstage at the southbank centre, in some conservative house in uxbridge, in a HUGE 漂亮的 sikh temple in gravesend, at thai new year, cambridge university, at a gurkha welfare centre in aldershot…

been so good  going to talk to all these different people - so open and sharing their thoughts on quite personal things like migration, immigration, identity, family history .
it brings out an interesting side to people, because they know its an independent not for profit project that gives equal treatment to people with really different views,  (boris johnson/ a North Korean refugee/ czech builder/ the first nepalese policewoman in england/ some really eloquent students/ a UKIP candidate)

我爱你伦敦!

Syd from Most Girls Smell Good got me to do this video to record their awesome event with the super Shade Seoul crew

They flew to Shanghai and did a party all night then had a few hours sleep and did the same in Beijing, this footage is from the Beijing night. Finally witnessed vogueing in beijing! I think I was bouncing around with my camera for 6 hours so there was lots of beautiful people I didn’t manage to fit into 40 seconds but yeah come to the next one and see for yourself! it’s more than a party ❤️

check out their instagrams to see what they are about : @shadeseoul and @most_girls_smell_good       and me too: @lucyldn8

also, feel kinda happy as this was the first time I ever used that camera + manual focus and I think it turned out pretty good considering it was totally packed and everyone was tipsy    party don’t need to be totally in focus right
